Gas, also known as "Gas City", is located in Allen County on U.S. Highway 54. Gas is 2 miles east of Iola, the county seat, approximately 50 miles west of the Missouri border, and 65 miles north of the Oklahoma border.

The small town boasts 100 or more attractive homes and many small businesses including two banks, two Churches, a Convenience Store, Cafe, Auto Repair/Body Shop, Car Dealer, Trucking Company, Golf Course, TV & Appliance Shop, and Mobile Home Sales to name just a few. Gas also has one of the last remaining, working Drive-In Theaters in the State.
This is year is our 100th. Birthday. We are planning a celebration and adding welcome signs on U.S. Highway 54 at the West and East ends of town. Details will be posted as plans develop.
