Welcome to the city of Iola! Since the City's incorporation in 1870, Iola has experienced a rich and colorful history. The City has seen its economy shift from a strong agricultural base to a diverse base which includes agriculture, oil, gas, and manufacturing; each one being equally important. The City's retail community throughout the years has stayed strong and vibrant.

Iola has many local attractions, including the Bowlus Fine Arts Center which rivals some of the more famous concert halls in the United States. Riverside Park is the hub of the City's recreational program. The park includes 6 ball diamonds, 2 community centers, a football stadium, and the largest swimming pool in eastern Kansas. The citizens of Iola are proud to have the special distinction of having the largest downtown square in the country. During the summer you will find Iola's Municipal Band playing every Thursday night at the gazebo on the square. There are
