2008 CANDIDATE FILING PROCEDURES FOR CITY OFFICES

DATES: Filing deadline noon on January 29, 2008 at noon

PLACE:
Iola City  Candidates must file at their  City Clerk's Office.   Moran 
    City Candidates may file with their City Clerk or the County Clerk.

County Clerk's Office.)

City Nomination Petition (form must be obtained from and returned to the County Clerk's Office.) 
This form is not required for a candidate filing by fee.

Statement of Substantial Interest (form must be obtained from and returned to the County Clerk's Office.)

Affidavit of Exemption (form must be obtained from and returned to the County Clerk's Office.) 
This form is completed by all candidates who do not anticipate spending or receiving over 
$500.00 in campaign funds.

Appointment of Treasurer (form must be obtained from and returned to the County Clerk's Office.)  This form must be completed by all candidates who anticipate or who do spend or receive over $500.00 in campaign funds.

PROCESS: Iola City Clerk must accept their candidate's filings.
The forms and fees shall be remitted to the County Clerk within three (3) days of the filing. 
Upon receipt of the filing the County Clerk shall verify the filing.

Candidates for Moran City offices may file with their City Clerk or the County Clerk.  If the City Clerk accepts the forms and fees, both shall be remitted to the County Clerk within three (3) days of the filing.  Upon receipt of the filing, the County Clerk shall verify the filing.  

No candidate shall be permitted to withdraw from candidacy after the filing deadline 
(January 27, 2008 at 12 noon)

The County Clerk's Office shall forward a copy of each candidate’s forms to the Kansas 
Commission on Governmental Standards and Conduct.
