The Register of Deeds' search fee is $18.00 per hour. You will need to pay this in advance. If a full hour is not needed, we will prorate and return the remainder. If any documents are found, you will be notified. Copies are $1.00 each from bound books and $.50 from unbound books. You will be billed for the copies you request before mailing them to you.

We search our grantor and grantee index books under the names of the people you believe owned real estate in Allen County during the years you believe they owned it. You need to provide a specific time frame for us to search. The real estate documents are deeds, mortgages, miscellaneous documents, and oil/gas lease documents. If you have a complete legal description, we can also search by that. We also have some of the school records of rural schools and small town schools. Please provide the following information: For a student or teacher: 1) The name of the school 2) A ten year time-span of attendance 3) The individual's full name.
