Register of Deeds
Cara Barkdoll
Cara's third term as Register of Deeds began February 1, 2009 and will continue through January 2013. She was employed as a clerk in this office January 1997, and served as Deputy January 1998 until December 1999. At that time, her predecessor Jacqueline Webb retired, and Cara was appointed by Governor Bill Graves to serve the rest of the term. Cara's first full term began February 2001.

Michelle began working in the Register of Deeds' Office in July 2003, and was appointed Deputy April 2004. She performs the duties of the Register of Deeds in her absence.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Register of Deeds shall have custody of and safely keep and preserve all the books, records, deeds, maps, papers and microphotographs deposited or kept in the office of the Register of Deeds. The Register of Deeds shall also record or cause to be recorded all deeds, mortgages, maps, instruments and writings authorized by law to be recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds and shall perform all other duties as are required by law.
